Hawks Boast Impressive Results At Mizzou Challenge

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University indoor track & field teams produced impressive results at the Missouri College Challenge on Friday (Feb. 19) in Columbia, Mo. It was their final prelude to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships next weekend (Feb. 27-28).

Friday's meet was not scored at the team level.

The QU women posted five top-five finishes – two in relays and three individual performances. The 4x800 relay team of junior Elizabeth Leden, freshman Kellyn Lamore, freshman Ashley Doellman and senior Brittney Klosak placed second overall with a time of 10:59.68. That same quad was third in the distance medley relay, crossing the line in 14:33.58.

Individually, Leden was fourth in a 25-athlete field in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:25.88. Klosak (23^rd) and Doellman (24^th) also competed in that race.

In the 16-athlete 800-meter run, Lamore was fifth overall with a time of 2:26.18.

Sophomore Megan McClure was placed in the middle of the pack in the 3000-meter run with a time of 11:20.19 as she rounded out the women's top-five placers.

Sophomore Dede Barrigah placed 16^th in the 60-meter dash (13.12 seconds) and also in the 200-meter dash (32.94 seconds).

Quincy also had two participants in the field events as sophomore Marie Rush was 13^th in the shot put with a toss of 6.74 meters. Teammate Mattie Hoiness was directly behind her in the standings with a heave of 6.64 meters.

The men's side also featured a top-three finish as senior Michael Crotteau finished third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:25.85.

The Hawks had three competitors in the 400-meter dash, led by junior Derek Armstrong, who finished the race in 56.20 seconds and in 10^th place. Freshman Lincoln McGrath and sophomore Conner Gibbons also competed and finished 11^th and 12^th, respectively. Armstrong was also 21^st in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 25.25 seconds.

In the shot put, senior Sam Rohr was 14^th with a throw of 11.06 meters. He barely edged out teammate Robbie Overstreet, whose heave sailed 11.05 meters. Sophomore Jake Bass-Barber's top throw went 9.58 meters.

The Hawks will return to action next Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 27-28) at the GLVC Championships in Kenosha, Wis. for their final indoor meet of the season.
