#20 Lady Hawks Host #7 Lewis and UW-Parkside in Marquee Matchups

QUINCY, Ill. - The No. 20 Quincy University women's basketball team will host No. 7 Lewis University on Thursday (Feb. 11) followed by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday (Feb. 13). QU is calling for a #WhiteOut for Thursday's game against Lewis at 5:15 p.m. with the first 100 students receiving free white t-shirts. The Lady Hawks will host UW-Parkside for their annual Creating Memories Game at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Creating Memories is the Lady Hawks' charitable organization that donates multiple $500 checks per year to cancer patients from the Blessing Cancer Research Center in Quincy, Ill. The Lady Hawks will present a check prior to the game on Saturday and will also be accepting donations throughout the game. Head coach Jeni Garber has issued the Coach's Challenge to everyone who wants to support Creating Memories and the Lady Hawks' cause. In order to participate you must pledge any amount of money multiplied by the number of three-point field goals made by QU during the game. To pledge for the Coach's Challenge you can sign up at the game, or email Coach Garber at garbeje@quincy.edu. Wear lavender to the game to support the Lady Hawks' Creating Memories charity. Following the men's game will be Fiesta Night for Rebounders Club and Fast Break Club members.

Five Fun Facts Quincy (19-3, 10-3 GLVC)
- Kara Gerbus has been clutch with the ball in her hands and the Lady Hawks trailing in the fourth quarter. Gerbus has now hit two game-tying shots to lead to eventual overtime winners. The senior knocked down a pair of free throws with under a second remaining against Missouri-St. Louis on Jan. 23. The Cincinnati, Ohio native knocked down a three at Indianapolis on Feb. 4 to force overtime last weekend.

- Quincy is shooting 40.6% from three this season ranking fourth in NCAA Division II women's basketball. Nikia Edom has hit 2.18 triples per game while shooting 48.5% ranking third in NCAA DII. Megan Wienstroer ranks second in the GLVC making 48.8% while averaging 1.11 threes per game.

- Maggie Cunningham is in the GLVC rankings in points, rebounds, and assists. Cunningham averages 12 points per game ranking 19th in the league. The senior also ranks 19th in rebounds averaging 5.7 per game. The Peoria, Ill. native is third in the GLVC with 5.09 assists per contest. Cunningham leads the Lady Hawks in all three categories. 

- Erin Mennemeyer scored a career-high 29 points at Drury on Jan. 28. It was the most points scored by a Lady Hawk since Maggie Cunningham scored 29 against Drury Jan. 30, 2014 in Pepsi Arena.

- QU has shot 74.7% from the line this season ranking fourth in the GLVC and 33rd in NCAA DII. In the last five minutes of play, the Lady Hawks raise that average to 76.9%. Maggie Cunningham has hit 40-of-44 (90.9%) free throws in the final five minutes of games. Cunningham is fourth in the GLVC and 38th in NCAA DII shooting 85.6% from the line this season. Kara Gerbus is averaging 83.1% from the line while hitting 49-of-59 ranking eighth in the GLVC in her senior campaign.


Five Fun Facts Lewis (22-1, 13-0 GLVC)
- Lewis has lost their only game of the season on the road at Grand Valley State University on Nov. 25, 2015.

- Mariyah Brawner-Henley and Jamie Johnson are the 2013-14 and 2014-15 GLVC Player's of the Year respectively.

- Jamie Johnson led the Flyers with 22.2 points per game and four assists per game in the first six games, but has not played since.

- Mariyah Brawner-Henley averages a double-double with 20.1 points per game and 11.7 rebounds per game.

- Jessica Kelliher averages 18.5 points per game as a true freshman scoring on 66.7% of her shots from the floor.

- The Rangers are 4-4 on the road this season and have split their GLVC road games 3-3.

- UW-Parkside is led by Stephanie Furr with 12.8 points per game and a 6.1 rebounding average.

- The Rangers have taken 36.4% of their shots from the floor from beyond the three-point arc. They are shooting 30.3% from three.

- Kristin Coniff is scoring 12.2 points per game. Coniff leads the team with 38 made triples.

- The Rangers had their longest winning streak this season of three games with the first three games of the season. UW-Parkside has strung together two wins in a row just three times after their three-game streak.
