Lady Hawks Finish Ninth at Snowbird Open

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's and men's indoor track and field teams returned to competition for the first time in 2016 at the Snowbird Open, hosted by Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill. on Saturday (Jan. 23).
 
The women's track and fieldteam finished ninth in the 15-team field, while the men finished 12th overall out of 12 teams.
 
The women's team saw a pair of third-place finishes spur them ahead of several teams in the field. Megan McClure finished the 3000-meter run in 11:18.51 to finish in third place and pick up six team points.
 
Additionally, the women's distance medley relay team of Kellyn Lamore, Elizabeth Leden, Ashley Doellman and Brittney Klosak finished third with a time of 14:27.86.
 
Lamore was the top Quincy finisher in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:36.27 to finish eighth overall. Klosak was 23rd in the race with a time of 2:48.23.
 
Leden finished 10th in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:52.51, while Doellman was 20th, clocking in at 6:38.12.
 
On the men's side, the 4x200 relay team finished second by clocking in at 1:42.03. That team consisted of Darius Burse, Derek Armstrong, Lincoln McGrath and Brett Genenbacher.
 
The Hawks also had three participants in the shot put. Robbie Overstreet was the top finisher for Quincy with a heave of 11.42 meters to finish 24th. Sam Rohr threw the shot 10.32 meters and Jake Bass-Barber had an 8.65-meter toss.
 
The teams return to competition next Saturday (Jan. 30) at the Titan Open in Bloomington, Ill.
