TOURNAMENT TIME: The Quincy University men's volleyball team opens the MIVA Tournament with a date at fourth-ranked Loyola Chicago. The Hawks are the No. 7 seed in the tournament, while the Ramblers earned the No. 2 seed. This is the third straight season the teams will meet in the first round of the tournament with the Ramblers taking the last two in straight sets. The Ramblers have lost two matches this season to No. 1 Lewis and the six sets dropped to the Flyers are the only six they have lost in MIVA play this season. All 14 conference wins have been in straight sets.

GAMACHE ALL-MIVA SECOND TEAM: The Hawks learned on Thursday that junior opposite Jack Gamache (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell Central) was named to the All-MIVA second team. Gamache became the Hawks' first all-conference player since Steven Battaglia was a second team selection in 2012. The junior left-hander has been the Hawks' most consistent player and ranks in the top 20 in the MIVA in eight statistical categories, including kills, digs, aces and points both on overall and per set bases. Gamache won MIVA Defensive Player of the Week honors March 24 and has a team-leading five double-doubles on the season. He is third in the league in digs (201).

BOUNCE BACK: The Hawks, looking for their first postseason tournament win since an upset over Ball State in 2011, are coming off a four-match losing streak to close the regular season. The first three of those defeats came against nationally-ranked teams, including then-No. 5 Loyola Chicago on April 10.

ROGAN'S CAREER NIGHT: The Hawks dropped their final regular season match last Friday to Lindenwood in four games. Senior outside Brian Rogan (St. Louis, Mo./Francis Howell North), playing his final match at Pepsi Arena, posted a match-high 15 kills (.308) to go with five digs and two aces. QU's former setter, Rogan is now hitting .188 on the season and is averaging 1.68 kills per set. In 16 matches since moving to the outside full-time, Rogan is averaging 2.36 kills per set, just .07 off the team leader in that stretch, sophomore Jarrod Kelso (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby).

MILESTONES: Gamache currently needs just two services aces to reach 100 for his career. He should also surpass 1,000 kills next season with 852 heading into tonight's match.

TOP MIVA AWARDS: Loyola Chicago's Thomas Jaeschke was named the MIVA Player of the Year for the second straight season, while Nicolas Szerszen of Ohio State was named the league's Freshman of the Year. Lewis' Dan Friend is the Coach of the Year.
