QUINCY GAME NOTES (PDF) | SAINT JOSEPH'S GAME NOTES

WEEKLY LOOK-AHEAD:  The Lady Hawks (14-11, 9-8 GLVC) welcome Saint Joseph's College (11-17, 7-11 GLVC) to Pepsi Arena on Sunday afternoon for the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament First Round.  The First Round of the GLVC Championship Tournament is hosted by the fifth thru eighth seed with the first four seeds receiving byes.  Quincy is the fifth seed hosting the 12th seeded Pumas.  The Lady Hawks are 10-4 at home this season.

Saint Joseph's came into Pepsi Arena earlier this season on Feb. 14 and defeated the Lady Hawks 64-57.  SJC was led by Kalea Parks with 29 points and 11 rebounds.  The Pumas are 4-12 on the road this season and have a three-game losing streak entering the postseason.  This is their first postseason appearance since 2011-12.  SJC is averaging 59 points per game and hold opponents to 63 points per game.  The Pumas went to triple overtime on Thursday with Indianapolis before falling 82-81.  Kalea Parks averages 17.4 points per game and 6.7 rebounds.  Courtney Kvachkoff has hit 67 three-pointers and is averaging 11.8 points per game.

LAST LOOK AT LAST GAME:  The Lady Hawks had a big win over Truman State on senior night at Pepsi Arena.  QU avenged their early season loss to TSU with a 63-51 win to leap-frog the Bulldogs in the standings to take the fifth seed.  The Lady Hawks have won two-straight games heading into the postseason.

Maggie Cunningham and Anika Webster led the Lady Hawks with 15 points each.  Cunningham also tied for the team-lead in rebounds with Erin Mennemeyer.  Mennemeyer and Cunningham both had seven boards.  Cunningham also led the team with two assists and she had five of the Lady Hawks' 10 steals.

QU out-rebounded the Bulldogs 38-26 with 15 offensive boards.  The Lady Hawks found their way to the free-throw line 27 times converting 25 of those chances.  The Lady Hawks shot 92.6% from the line after a season of struggles from the charity stripe.

PLAYOFFS! WE'RE TALKING ABOUT PLAYOFFS!: The Lady Hawks enter the GLVC Championship Tournament for 17th time in school history.  QU lost to Truman State (68-54) in the semifinals last season after receiving a bye as the three seed.  In the quarterfinals the Lady Hawks topped Southern Indiana (75-69) in Evansville, Ind.  This season the GLVC Championship Tournament quarterfinals, semifinals, and final will take place at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo.  The last time the Lady Hawks won the GLVC Championship Tournament was in 2004-05.  They also won in 2003-04.  This is the eighth consecutive season that the Lady Hawks have qualified for the GLVC Championship Tournament.  

CUNNINGHAM CLUTCH AGAIN: Maggie Cunningham has been called on to lead the Lady Hawks who have seen injuries deplete their roster over the season.  Cunningham was up to the challenge against Truman State on Thursday.  The junior point guard was tied for the team lead in scoring and rebounding with 15 points and seven boards.  The Peoria, Ill. native also had two of the Lady Hawks' five assists and five of 10 steals in the 63-51 win.  Cunningham was a force defensively as the Lady Hawks held Truman State to just two double-digit scorers. 

WEBSTER SETTLING IN: Anika Webster has scored in double figures nine of her last 11 games.  In that stretch she has tied or topped her career-high three times.  The freshman forward has scored double-digits in 16 games this season.  The Springfield, Ill. native set a career-high with 17 points against Indianapolis on Feb. 12.  Most recently, Webster scored 15 points in a Lady Hawks 63-51 win over Truman State on Thursday.

MIXING AND MATCHING: The Lady Hawks have turned in 13 different starting lineups in 26 games this season.  The Maggie Cunningham, Kara Gerbus, Anika Webster, Carly Beebe, and Nikia Edom lineup just took over as the group that has started the most games at six.  They are currently 3-3 in those six starts together.  After the game against Truman State on Thursday there are no women's basketball players who have started every game this season.  Nikia Edom started the first 25 games before Truman State.

HOT SHOOTING: The Lady Hawks are shooting 43.5% from the field this season ranking third in the GLVC.  Their field goal percentage ranks 33rd nationally.  The Lady Hawks' hot shooting extends outside the three-point arc.  QU is shooting 37.7% from three this season rankng third in the GLVC.  The Lady Hawks rank 14th in NCAA Division II three-point field goal percentage.  QU has averaged 71.9 points per game this season adding up to a positive 6.7 point differential.

FREE THROWS FRIENDLIER TO LADY HAWKS: Over the past three games the Lady Hawks have averaged a higher free-throw percentage than their season average.  Against Missouri-St. Louis, QU shot 73.7% from the charity stripe.  QU shot 78.6% from the line against Maryville.  Most recently, the Lady Hawks hit 25 of 27 free-throws against Truman State for a 92.6% mark from the line.

CAREER-HIGHS FOR LADY HAWKS: Kara Gerbus and Erin Mennemeyer teamed up to turn in career-high scoring numbers against Maryville in the 20-point win.  Gerbus hit five threes en route to 24 points on Saturday.  Erin Mennemeyer scored 17 points going eight of 11 from the field to set a career mark.

LIGHTING UP THREES: The Lady Hawks average 7.7 threes per game this season ranking first in the GLVC.  QU is 14th in NCAA Division II.  Maggie Cunningham hit six threes against Indianapolis on Feb. 12.  Kara Gerbus set a career-high with five threes against Maryville on Feb. 21.
