Quincy Game Notes (.pdf)

FINAL MIVA ROAD SLATE: The Hawks play their final MIVA road games this week, but their task could not be tougher. Quincy travels north to Chicago to take on undefeated No. 1 Loyola on Thursday before a visit to No. 2 Lewis on Saturday.

THREE STRAIGHT: The Hawks enter this week's play riding a three-match winning streak, including a two-match sweep of MIVA foe Grand Canyon at Pepsi Arena last weekend. Quincy scored the first five points of Set 5 and never trailed after that in a 3-2 win last Friday. The Hawks then went four sets in a 3-1 decision over the 'Lopes on Saturday. The Hawks are just one set away from a five-match winning streak (they lost to Lindenwood, 3-2, on Feb. 13).

KELSO MIVA PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sophomore middle blocker Jarrod Kelso (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby) was named the MIVA Offensive Player of the Week for his performances against Grand Canyon last week. Kelso established a career high with 19 kills (.519) on just 27 swings on Friday night, and added eight kills (.312) in Saturday's four-set win. The 6-foot-7 Kelso also finished with 15 blocks last week.

EFFICIENT KELSO: Kelso has been extremely efficient this season, leading the conference and ranking fifth in the nation in hitting percentage (.415). He also ranks 18th in the country and seventh in the MIVA in blocks per set (1.12). Finally, Kelso ranks fifth in the league in total points (179.0).

GAMACHE MASHING: Junior opposite hitter Jack Gamache (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell Central) is also running a hot streak right now with double-digit kills in four of his last five matches. He had 16 kills and hit .536 in Saturday's win over GCU. Gamache leads the Hawks in kills (136) and is hitting a career-best .242 on the season.

OFFENSE ROLLING: In their three-match winning streak, the Hawks are hitting .299 as a team, helped by the solid play of sophomore setter Thane Fanfulik (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby), who is averaging 8.49 assists per set.
