No. 6 Hawks Earn Scoreless Tie at Tritons

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 6 Quincy University men's soccer team fought to a scoreless tie against the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 26).  QU remains unbeaten on the season with one game to go in the regular season.  The Hawks fired 23 shots with 10 shots on goal in the game.  UMSL took six shots with two on goal.  Drew Duncan recorded his 12th shutout of the season.
 
The first half was all Quincy (15-0-2, 12-0-2 GLVC) early on.  The Hawks fired seven shots with four on goal in the first stanza.  UMSL (11-3-2, 10-3-1 GLVC) took one shot that was saved by Drew Duncan (15-0-2). 
 
The No. 6 Hawks applied the pressure throughout the match firing 10 shots in the second half and six shots in overtime.  The Tritons' keeper Nick Lenkman was up to the task making 10 saves on the day to keep the Hawks out of the net.
 
Tommy Koerper had a ball come to his feet in the second half that he redirected back toward the net, but the shot was blocked.  After the ball was knocked around in the box, the ball was finally cleared by the Triton defense.
 
Xhovani Dokaj had a splendid chance late in the second overtime on the left side of the box.  He broke free of the defender and fired an off-balance shot that was saved headed to the far post.
 
The match finished as a scoreless tie as the Hawks took six shot in two overtime periods with four shots on goal.  UMSL attempted one shot in overtime that was not toward the woodwork.
 
The No. 6 Hawks will play host Truman State University on Wednesday night (Oct. 29) at Legends Stadium.  The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. on Jack Mackenzie Field.
