No. 6 Hawks Finish Regular Season Undefeated with 4-0 Win over Truman

QUINCY, Ill. - The No. 6 Quincy University men's soccer team finished the regular season undefeated for the fourth time in QU history and the first time since 1970.  The Hawks also earned their second consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference Regular Season Championship with their 4-0 win over Truman State University.

Drew Duncan recorded his 13th shutout of the season to break the QU record for shutouts in a season.  The previous record was held by Eric Delabar who had 12 shutouts in 1977.

Jordan Roberts netted two goals to become the eighth QU men's soccer student-athlete to record 20 goals in a season.  It is the first 20 goal season by a Hawk since Matt Vollink in 2000.  Roberts passed Bill Fann on the QU career goals list to move into sixth place with 49 goals.

Holding true to the bulk of the regular season, the Hawk (16-0-2, 13-0-2 GLVC) defense was impenetrable allowing zero shots in the first half by Truman (5-11-1, 4-10-1 GLVC).  The Hawk offense was on the attack with nine shots in the first stanza with four on goal.  Jordan Roberts scored the first goal of the game in the 28th minute.  Xhovani Dokaj sent a short pass to Roberts who finished from 14 yards out to the right side of the net.

After halftime, Jordan Roberts recorded his 20th goal of the season in the 51st minute.  Xhovani Dokaj was on the scorecard for the assist again as he made a run down the right side and centered a ball to Roberts who finished from 18 yards out.

Steve McAnany sent a cross in to Xhovani Dokaj in the 52nd minute.  Dokaj made a quick touch to an open Ethan Venvertloh across the box.  Venvertloh netted his sixth goal of the season to the far post from eight yards out.

Steve McAnany sent a free kick across the box to the far post in the 68th minute.  Jake Bond dove threw the air to connect on a header from nine yards out to score his first goal of the season.

The Hawks finished the season with a 4-0 win over Truman State.  Drew Duncan (16-0-2) did not face a shot on goal in the match to earn his 13th shutout of the season.

The No. 6 Hawks welcome Bellarmine University on Sunday (Nov. 2) in the Quarterfinals of the GLVC Championship Tournament.  The start time at Legends Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
