Quincy University announced Monday (Feb. 27) that Bob Crank will take over as head coach of the men’s volleyball program on an interim basis for the remainder of the season.

Crank wrapped up his fourth season as QU’s women’s volleyball head coach in the fall, leading the Hawks to a 16-15 record and their first appearance in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament for the first time since 2011.

Under Crank the QU women’s team has improved its win totals in each of his seasons at the helm. Two players – Emily Lindemulder and Rachel Shores – were named All-GLVC last season and the Hawks were named the James R. Spalding Team Sportsmanship Award winners.

Crank previously served as the women’s assistant coach at UMSL for two seasons and the head coach at Maryville for eight years. He was also the head coach at High Performance-STL, a premier club in the Midwest.

He is a 2008 graduate of Missouri Baptist, having played four seasons as a setter and helping the Spartans to four straight appearances in the NAIA national tournament. He is also a veteran of the United States Army Reserves, serving as a psychological operations team chief from 1999-2005.
