QUINCY, Ill. - After opening Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a pair of hard-fought road matches, the Quincy University women's volleyball team will return to Pepsi Arena this weekend for its first home matches of the 2026 season.

The Hawks will welcome a pair of GLVC opponents to Quincy, beginning with the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Friday, September 25th at 6:00 PM. Quincy will then close out the weekend on Saturday, September 26th at 3:00 PM against McKendree.

The weekend marks an important opportunity for the Hawks to continue building within conference play while finally taking the court in front of the Quincy home crowd.

Last Weeks Results

Quincy enters the weekend at 9-5 overall and 0-2 in GLVC play after facing Lewis and No. 24 Indianapolis on the road last weekend. The Hawks battled Lewis before falling 3-1 on Friday before facing another nationally ranked opponent in Indianapolis on Saturday.

UIndy earned a 3-0 victory, but Quincy continued to compete throughout the match, with the Hawks putting together several strong stretches against the nationally ranked Greyhounds.

Against Lewis, Quincy finished with 54 kills, led by Selin Turgut's 19 kills, while Aysem Kocaalp added 13 and Olivia Curry recorded 11. Macey Rocco posted 40 assists, and the Hawks finished with 56 digs. Quincy also saved one of its strongest offensive stretches for the fourth set, hitting .452 with 13 kills.

Quincy followed with a competitive effort against UIndy, with Kocaalp leading the Hawks with 10 kills and 14 digs. Rocco recorded 27 assists and 11 digs for a double-double, while Monika Bíliková added six kills and a team-high four blocks. Kocaalp and Amber Glen each contributed 14 digs.

Despite the two conference losses, Quincy has already put together a strong start to the 2026 campaign and will look to carry that competitive energy into its first home weekend.

Friday's Matchup 

The Hawks will begin the weekend against a familiar opponent. 

Quincy and UMSL have a long history together, with the Hawks last win being in 2024. Last season, they saw each other twice, once in the regular season and once in the GLVC tournament.

The rivalry produced a five-set match in St. Louis last season during their first meeting, which was one of the most competitive regular-season matches in the GLVC.

The stakes were even higher when the two programs met again in the 2025 GLVC Championship match. UMSL came away with a 3-1 victory to claim its first GLVC Tournament championship in program history.

UMSL enters Friday's matchup as one of the conference's top programs. The Tritons went 26-5 overall and a perfect 13-0 in GLVC play last season, claiming both the regular-season and tournament championships. UMSL holds a current record of 7-5 in the regular season and are 2-0 in conference. 

The Tritons return several key pieces from last season's championship team, including junior right-side hitter Alayna Santel and senior libero Skylar Weaver, who both earned All-American recognition following the 2025 season.

For Quincy, Friday's matchup provides the Hawks with an opportunity to open their home schedule against a team they know well and have battled in several high-level matches over the years.

Saturday's Matchup 

Saturday will bring another familiar GLVC opponent to Pepsi Arena as the Hawks take on McKendree.

Quincy is 7-11 all-time against the Bearcats, but the Hawks have taken the last three meetings between the programs. That recent stretch gives Quincy some positive momentum heading into Saturday's matchup.

McKendree finished the 2025 season with a 6-21 overall record and a 4-9 mark in GLVC play. The Bearcats hold a 2-10 record for this season and are 0-2 in conference play. They will face the University of Illinois Springfield on Friday before traveling to face the Hawks. 

While the two teams have taken different paths in recent seasons, their history has produced a competitive series, and McKendree will provide Quincy with another conference test to close out the weekend.

Heading Into the Weekend

The Hawks enter the weekend looking to turn their strong stretches from the opening two conference matches into results. Quincy has already shown its ability to compete against challenging GLVC opponents, and the return to Pepsi Arena gives the Hawks the added opportunity to play in front of their home supporters for the first time this season.

With two conference matches in two days, Quincy will have the chance to establish itself at home while continuing its push through the GLVC schedule.

The first serve against the University of Missouri-St. Louis tritons is scheduled for 6:00 PM on Friday, September 25th. Saturday's match against the McKendree bearcats is set for 3:00 PM at Pepsi Arena in Quincy, IL.
