QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's soccer team returns to Legends Stadium on Wednesday to host the University of Illinois Springfield in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 PM.

The Hawks enter the match with a 3-1-4 overall record and remain unbeaten in GLVC play at 3-0-2 following a dominant 4-0 road victory over previously unbeaten Rockhurst. UIS comes to Quincy with a 3-3-1 overall record and a 1-2-1 mark in conference action after battling Missouri S&T to a 1-1 draw.

Wednesday's matchup features two teams that have defended well throughout the season, but Quincy enters the contest playing some of its best soccer of the year.

Last Time Out

Quincy turned in one of its most impressive performances of the season Saturday, handing Rockhurst its first loss with a 4-0 victory at Bourke Field.

Rebecca Rheinheimer opened the scoring in the 21st minute before Tori Nelson added her first collegiate goal just over three minutes later off an assist from Jessie Newton.

Emily Richardson extended the lead to 3-0 in the 34th minute, giving the Hawks a commanding advantage heading into halftime.

Rheinheimer struck again in the 55th minute to cap the scoring and record her first multi-goal performance of the season and second in a Quincy uniform. The two goals also pushed Rheinheimer past 50 collegiate career goals, bringing her career total to 51.

Quincy finished with an 11-9 advantage in shots, while goalkeeper Devin Tracy made six saves to preserve the clean sheet.

The victory marked Quincy's third conference win of the season and handed Rockhurst its first loss after entering the match 6-0-1.

Hawks Finding Their Form

Quincy has found another level offensively since the start of conference play. Over its last four matches, the Hawks have scored 10 goals while allowing just one, going 3-0-1 during that stretch.

Rheinheimer leads Quincy with six goals and continues to be one of the team's most dangerous attacking threats. Newton has provided the creativity behind the attack, leading the Hawks with eight assists while continuing to rank among the top playmakers in Division II.

Richardson and Abbie Martin have each added two goals, giving Quincy multiple scoring threats throughout the lineup.

Overall, the Hawks have scored 15 goals in eight matches while generating 105 shots.

Defense Continues to Anchor the Hawks

While Quincy's offense has found its rhythm, the defense has been equally important to the Hawks' unbeaten start in conference play.

Quincy has allowed just six goals through eight matches and has posted three shutouts. The Hawks have now recorded consecutive clean sheets against Lewis and Rockhurst, with Tracy playing every minute in goal.

Tracy has made 32 saves while posting an .842 save percentage and was named GLVC Defensive Player of the Week following Quincy's two-shutout week.

Over the Hawks' last four matches, the defense has surrendered only one goal. Quincy has also controlled the overall shot battle this season, generating 105 attempts while limiting opponents to 71.

Series History

Quincy owns a 12-4-2 advantage in the series against Illinois Springfield since 2009.

The Hawks earned a 3-1 road victory over the Prairie Stars last season.

Alyssa Amaral opened the scoring less than two minutes into the match before Rheinheimer doubled the advantage in the 11th minute. Former Hawk Ella Wolfard added another goal shortly afterward as Quincy built a 3-0 halftime lead.

The Hawks controlled the opportunities throughout the opening half, outshooting UIS 9-3 while placing eight attempts on goal.

UIS scored once after halftime, but Quincy held on comfortably for the 3-1 victory.

Scouting UIS

Illinois Springfield enters Wednesday following a 1-1 draw against Missouri S&T.

Rachel Riney gave the Prairie Stars an early advantage with a goal in the 15th minute before the Miners found the equalizer midway through the second half.

UIS has proven difficult to break down this season, allowing only seven goals through seven matches.

Despite not recording a shutout, the Prairie Stars have not surrendered more than one goal in any match this season.

Offensively, UIS has scored 10 goals while averaging nearly 15 shots per contest. Mallory Herber and Riney lead the Prairie Stars with two goals apiece.

Sophia Davila has been one of the team's most active attackers, leading UIS with 20 shots and 12 attempts on goal.

The Prairie Stars were selected ninth in the GLVC Preseason Coaches' Poll and are led by third-year head coach Scott Myers.

Matchup Outlook

Wednesday's matchup features a Quincy team carrying plenty of momentum against a UIS squad that has consistently kept matches close with its defense.

Quincy enters unbeaten through five GLVC contests and has scored 10 goals while allowing just one over its last four matches.

The Hawks will look to continue that run behind Rheinheimer, Newton, and an attack that has produced goals from throughout the lineup.

UIS has yet to allow more than one goal in a match this season, presenting another test for a Quincy offense coming off its highest-scoring performance of the year.

On the other end, the Prairie Stars will attempt to break through against a Quincy defense that has recorded consecutive shutouts and allowed just six goals all season.
