QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's soccer team travels to Kansas City, Missouri, on Saturday for a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup against Rockhurst University at Bourke Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 PM.

The Hawks enter the contest with a 4-1-2 overall record and a 3-0-1 mark in GLVC play after earning a 3-1 road victory over Lewis on Wednesday. Rockhurst sits at 3-3-1 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play following a 5-2 victory over Missouri S&T.

Saturday's matchup features two teams coming off impressive wins. Quincy has been one of the conference's most consistent teams through the opening weeks of the season, while Rockhurst will look to build on its highest-scoring performance of the year.

Last Time Out

Quincy earned its second consecutive conference victory Wednesday with a 3-1 win over Lewis in Romeoville.

After a scoreless first half, Leo Cann broke through just 38 seconds into the second period, finishing a pass from Josh Nwosu to give Quincy the lead.

The goal was Cann's sixth of the season and marked his second consecutive match with a goal after scoring the game-winner in Quincy's 1-0 victory over then-No. 13 Missouri S&T.

Lewis responded with an equalizer in the 57th minute before the Hawks regained control.

Carter Venvertloh scored his first goal of the season in the 70th minute to put Quincy back in front. The goal was the fifth of his career and his second career game-winner.

Less than seven minutes later, Quincy added an insurance goal when Cann found Erik Abraham, who scored the first goal of his collegiate career.

The Hawks controlled the match statistically, finishing with a 13-6 advantage in shots and a 7-2 edge in shots on goal.

Quincy Continues Offensive Consistency

One of Quincy's biggest strengths this season has been its ability to consistently generate scoring opportunities.

The Hawks have scored 14 goals through seven matches and have found the back of the net in every game this season.

Quincy has generated 94 shots, including 39 on goal, while averaging two goals per contest.

Cann has emerged as one of the conference's most dangerous attacking threats, leading the Hawks with six goals, 28 shots, and 17 shots on goal.

Nwosu has added two goals and two assists while helping drive the Quincy attack.

The Hawks have also received contributions throughout the lineup, with their last two victories providing a strong example. Quincy defeated then-No. 13 Missouri S&T 1-0 before scoring three times against Lewis, combining for four goals while allowing just one across the two matches.

Rockhurst Looks to Build on Offensive Breakout

While Quincy has produced steady offensive numbers throughout the season, Rockhurst enters Saturday coming off its most explosive performance of the year.

Rockhurst defeated Missouri S&T 5-2 on Wednesday, scoring four times in the second half against a Miners team that had allowed just one goal through its first four matches.

The five-goal performance came after Rockhurst had been shut out in each of its previous two contests. For the season, Rockhurst has scored 11 goals while allowing 14. The team has generated 89 shots with 35 on target.

Tommaso Silanos leads Rockhurst with three goals after scoring twice in Wednesday's victory over Missouri S&T. Troy Lor has added one goal and two assists, while several other players have also found the back of the net as part of a balanced Rockhurst attack.

Common Opponents Show Similar Results

Quincy and Rockhurst have already faced three common GLVC opponents this season, and neither side has suffered a loss in those matchups.

Quincy battled Indianapolis to a 1-1 draw before defeating Missouri S&T 1-0 and Lewis 3-1. Rockhurst earned a 2-1 victory over Indianapolis, played Lewis to a scoreless draw, and defeated Missouri S&T 5-2.

The similar results provide another indication of how competitive Saturday's matchup could be despite the difference in the teams' overall records.

Rockhurst holds a 20-10-5 advantage in the all-time series between the programs.

Rockhurst won both meetings last season, earning a 1-0 victory during the regular season before defeating Quincy 2-1 in the GLVC Tournament quarterfinals.

In the regular-season meeting, Rockhurst scored the lone goal in the 80th minute while holding Quincy to six shots.

The teams met again in the postseason, where Rockhurst built a 2-0 advantage before holding off a Quincy comeback attempt to end the Hawks' 2025 campaign.

Quincy will look to reverse that recent trend Saturday while extending its unbeaten start to conference play.

Scouting Rockhurst

Rockhurst entered the season with high expectations after being selected second in the GLVC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The team was also ranked No. 13 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll after finishing 12-5-4 last season and advancing to the third round of the NCAA Division II Tournament.

While Rockhurst has experienced an up-and-down start to 2026, Wednesday's five-goal performance showed the offensive potential of the group.

Silanos leads the team with three goals, while Lor has contributed one goal and two assists.

Rockhurst has also used multiple goalkeepers this season, with Samuele Neri receiving the start in Wednesday's victory over Missouri S&T and Luke Strueby also seeing time in net.

The roster features an experienced group with 10 seniors and graduate students, along with several transfers.

Longtime head coach Tony Tocco is in his 56th season leading the program. Following last season, Tocco and his staff were named the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
