QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's soccer team returns to Legends Stadium Saturday afternoon looking for its first victory of the 2026 season as the Hawks welcome Davenport University for a 2:30 PM kickoff.
Both teams enter the matchup with identical 0-0-1 records after opening their respective seasons with 1-1 draws on Thursday.
Quincy played Purdue University Northwest to a draw in its season opener, while Davenport earned the same result on the road against Truman State.
Last Time Out
The Hawks were forced to play from behind for much of Thursday's opener after Purdue Northwest scored early in the first half.
Quincy continued to apply pressure before finally finding the equalizer in the 70th minute when
Rebecca Rheinheimer scored her first goal of the season off an assist from
Jessie Newton.
The Hawks finished with a 13-6 advantage in shots and controlled much of the second half, outshooting the Lions 8-3 over the final 45 minutes.
Rheinheimer finished with three shots, including two on goal, while Newton led Quincy with four attempts.
The 1-1 result moved the Hawks to 0-0-1 entering Saturday.

Series History
Saturday marks the eighth all-time meeting between Quincy and Davenport in a series that is tied 3-3-1 dating back to 2018.
The Hawks took last year's matchup 2-0 in Caledonia, Michigan.
Quincy broke through in the 70th minute when
Ella Wolfard found the back of the net before
Marina Oberschmid added an insurance goal 10 minutes later.
Newton assisted on both goals, while goalkeeper
Devin Tracy made two saves to record her first collegiate victory and shutout.
The Hawks will look to make it two straight wins over the Panthers and take the lead in the all-time series Saturday.
Scouting Davenport
Davenport enters the weekend after finishing 4-12-3 overall and 4-9-1 in GLIAC play last season, placing sixth in the conference standings. The Panthers were picked to finish sixth again in the 2026 GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Head coach Joe White enters his fifth season leading Davenport with a 21-33-23 career record at the school.
The Panthers return 21 of 32 players from last year's roster and bring back a significant portion of their offensive production.
Davenport returns 10 of the 14 goals it scored in 2025 and brings back every player who scored multiple goals last season.
Sophomore Sofia Capoccia headlines Davenport's returning attack after leading the Panthers with three goals as a freshman. Madison Fant also returns after recording two goals and two assists last season.
Despite bringing back much of its scoring production, Davenport will look to take a step forward offensively after averaging just 0.74 goals per game in 2025.
The Panthers scored 14 goals across 19 matches and were held scoreless nine times. Early indications suggest Davenport may be creating more opportunities in 2026.
Chances Come Early for Davenport
The Panthers generated plenty of offense in Thursday's opener against Truman State despite settling for a 1-1 draw.
Davenport outshot Truman 20-12, placed 12 shots on goal and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Neither team scored until late in the second half.
Truman took the lead in the 77th minute before Davenport answered less than a minute later.
Freshman Reegan Dunn scored the first goal of her collegiate career off an assist from fellow freshman Audrey Muterspaugh, tying the match and securing the Panthers' first result of the season.
The immediate impact from Davenport's newcomers adds another dimension to an offense that already returns most of its production from last season.
Experience in the Back
Junior goalkeeper Elizabeth Wolter is back after serving as the Panthers' primary goalkeeper last season. Wolter started Thursday's opener and played all 90 minutes against Truman State.
Senior defender Jada Spillers also returns after starting all 20 matches last season and leading Davenport in minutes played.
The Panthers recorded four shutouts as a team in 2025 while allowing 27 goals, an average of 1.42 per game.
Looking to Break Through
Both Quincy and Davenport enter Saturday having created quality opportunities in their season openers but looking for a little more finishing in the attacking third.
The Hawks produced 13 shots Thursday and found their equalizer through Rheinheimer in the second half. Davenport generated 20 attempts and forced Truman's goalkeeper into 10 saves but also finished with just one goal.
Quincy will look to turn its second-half momentum from Thursday into a complete performance while limiting a Davenport side that showed an ability to create chances in its opener.
The Hawks will also look to continue their recent success in the series after shutting out the Panthers on the road last season.
Kickoff between Quincy and Davenport is scheduled for 2:30 PM Saturday, August 29, at Legends Stadium.
