Vardaman Competes at NCAA Regional, Highlights Program Milestone

FINDLAY, Ohio - Lily Vardaman represented Quincy University on the national stage at the NCAA East Regional, competing as an individual against one of the strongest fields in the country. Across three rounds at Findlay Country Club, Vardaman posted scores of 78, 81, and 83 to finish tied for 36th out of 89 qualified golfers.

Vardaman opened the tournament with her most consistent round, firing a 78 (+6). She showed strong composure early, settling in with a steady stretch of pars and positioning herself well through the opening nine. Her round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-4 13th, but a tough closing stretch, including a double bogey on 15, kept her from climbing further up the leaderboard.

In round two, Vardaman again showed flashes of high-level play, particularly on the front nine where she stayed controlled and within striking distance. However, the back nine proved challenging, as a series of bogeys and a double led to an 81 (+9). While the score didn't reflect her full level of play, she continued to battle and limit further damage against a deep and competitive field.

The final round saw Vardaman face early adversity, getting off to a difficult start on the front nine. Despite the early setbacks, she regrouped on the back nine, playing more composed golf down the stretch and avoiding any major swings late in the round. Her ability to settle in after a challenging opening stretch showcased her resilience and maturity competing at the regional level.

Throughout the tournament, Vardaman demonstrated the ability to compete with elite competition, stringing together multiple stretches of steady play while also recording birdies in each round. A few costly holes ultimately made the difference, but her consistency, composure, and ability to respond to adversity stood out across all three rounds.

Competing as an individual at the NCAA Regional marks a significant milestone for both Vardaman and the Quincy University women's golf program. Finishing tied for 36th in a field of 89 of the region's top golfers highlights not only her individual performance, but also the continued growth and competitiveness of the Hawks on a larger stage.
