QUINCY, Ill. -
Harry Fandre has been named the Quincy University Toyota Star of the Week after a monster weekend at the plate helped the Hawks take three of four games against McKendree at QU Stadium.
Fandre started at first base in all three Quincy wins and put together one of the best offensive weekends by a Hawk this season. Across the series, he went 9-for-12 with five doubles, eight RBIs, six runs scored, two walks, and three stolen bases while also finishing a perfect 17-for-17 defensively in the field.
Fandre got the weekend rolling in Quincy's 15-5 win in game one, finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBIs, a double, two stolen bases, and a walk.
He then delivered the biggest hit of the weekend in game three, an 8-7 extra inning win, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one RBI, one run scored, one stolen base, and a walk before delivering the walk-off double to seal the victory.
Fandre closed the weekend in dominant fashion in game four, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs scored, five RBIs, and two doubles in a 17-4 win over the Bearcats.
The strong weekend extended Fandre's hitting streak to six games, a stretch where he is hitting .609 (14-for-23).
On the season, Fandre has been one of the Hawks' most consistent hitters. Through 30 games and 27 starts, he is batting .376 with a .455 on-base percentage and a .653 slugging percentage for a 1.108 OPS. He leads Quincy with 19 extra-base hits, including 13 doubles, three triples, and three home runs, while also driving in 37 RBIs and going 7-for-8 on stolen base attempts.
Defensively, Fandre has been just as valuable. He has committed only two errors all season at first base while routinely saving throws with difficult scoops and providing a steady presence in the infield.
Fandre and the Hawks are back in action today when they travel to St. Louis for a midweek matchup against Maryville. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
