Hawks Compete at Inaugural GLVC STUNT Championship

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Quincy University STUNT team competed at the inaugural GLVC STUNT Championship hosted by Drury University inside the O'Reilly Family Event Center. The Hawks fell to second-seeded Trevecca Nazarene University 24-8 in their opening match before dropping a 26-6 decision to sixth-seeded Lewis University.

Trevecca Nazarene jumped out to an early lead in the opening match, holding Quincy scoreless in the first quarter while taking a 2-0 advantage. The Trojans extended the lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Hawks 5-1 to carry a 7-1 lead into halftime.

The Hawks were unable to gain momentum in the third quarter as Trevecca added four more points while Quincy was held scoreless. Quincy found some success in the final quarter with three points, but the Trojans answered with 11 points of their own to secure the 24-8 victory.

In the second match of the day, Lewis followed a similar script by controlling the early stages. The Flyers took a 2-0 lead after the first quarter and built a 7-1 advantage by halftime after winning the second quarter 5-1.

Lewis added to the lead in the third quarter, outscoring Quincy 5-1 once again. The Hawks had their strongest quarter offensively in the fourth with four points, but Lewis closed the match with 14 points to earn the 26-6 win.

Although Quincy was eliminated from the conference tournament, the Hawks will return to the mat on Sunday, April 12, when they travel to Big Rapids, Michigan, to face Ferris State University at 3:00 PM and Saint Mary's College at 4:00 PM.
