QUINCY, Ill. – After a dominant week against two GLVC opponents, Quincy University men's tennis player
Enrique Doldan has been named the Quincy Toyota Star of the Week.
Doldan went a perfect 4-0 across Quincy's two conference matches against Southwest Baptist and No. 45 Drury, helping the Hawks earn a 5-2 win over SBU before narrowly falling 4-2 to the nationally-ranked Panthers.
Against Southwest Baptist, Doldan teamed up with
Inigo Villacampa for a commanding 6-1 doubles victory. In singles play, Doldan picked up one of the biggest wins of the match, defeating Alejandro Sanchez, the No. 72 ranked singles player nationally, by scores of 6-1, 4-6, 10-6.
Doldan followed that performance with another standout showing against No. 45 Drury. He and Villacampa remained unbeaten on the week with a 7-6 (7-5) doubles victory. In singles, Doldan dominated Matthieu Gachon, the No. 11 ranked player in the Midwest Region, earning a convincing 6-0, 6-2 victory.
On the season, Doldan holds a 9-3 singles record and a 10-2 doubles mark. Alongside Villacampa, he has won nine straight doubles matches heading into the final week of the regular season.
Doldan and the Hawks will return to action on Friday, April 24th at 2:00 PM when they travel to Kansas City, Missouri to face Rockhurst.
