INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced its postseason awards for men's tennis, with Quincy University's
Inigo Villacampa once again earning recognition among the league's best.
Villacampa was named GLVC All-Conference for the third consecutive season, securing the honor in every year of his career at Quincy. In doing so, he becomes just the second player in program history to earn All-Conference recognition three times, joining Ian Hinkamper, who was a four-time selection from 2012–15.
The junior has continued to build one of the most impressive careers in program history. Competing exclusively in the No. 1 singles position, Villacampa has compiled a 20-3 overall record this season, including a 3-1 mark in GLVC play. It marks the second straight year he has reached the 20-win plateau in singles.
He has been equally strong in doubles, posting a 16-4 overall record and a 3-1 conference mark while competing in the top flight. His consistency at the top of the lineup has been a key factor in the Hawks' success throughout the season.
In addition to his on-court accomplishments, Villacampa was recognized for his character and sportsmanship, earning the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award. As a team, Quincy was also honored with the GLVC Team Sportsmanship Award for the fourth time in program history, further highlighting the culture built within the program.
Villacampa and the Hawks now turn their focus to postseason play. Quincy will make its 13th appearance in the GLVC Tournament, and third consecutive trip, as they travel to Greenwood, Indiana for a first-round matchup against Maryville University. First serve is set for 9:30 AM CT on May 1 at Center Grove High School. The Hawks will be looking to secure their first GLVC Tournament victory since 2003 as they begin their postseason run.
