QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 GLVC matchup to No. 45 Drury University on Saturday morning at Reservoir Park.
The Hawks opened strong in doubles play, taking the point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3.
Inigo Villacampa and
Enrique Doldan earned a 7-5 victory at the top court, while
Cristobal Tellez and
Gerard Abad Puig matched that score at No. 3 doubles.
The doubles victory marked a ninth straight doubles win for Doldan, all coming alongside Villacampa. Villacampa also extended his doubles winning streak to five matches, while Tellez and Abad Puig picked up their third consecutive doubles victory together.
Quincy's lone singles point came at No. 2, where Doldan delivered a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win over Matthieu Gachon, who is ranked 11th in the Midwest Region.
Drury secured the remaining singles courts to claim the team victory. Villacampa battled to three sets at No. 1 before falling to Chuy Gonzalez, snapping his 10-match singles winning streak.
The Hawks will be back in action on Friday, April 24, when they travel to Kansas City, Missouri, for a dual with Rockhurst beginning at 2:00 PM.
