BELLEVILLE, Ill. – The Quincy University women's tennis team earned its second straight victory Sunday afternoon with a 6-1 win over Southwestern Illinois College.
The Hawks controlled the match from the start, sweeping all three doubles courts to secure the opening point. The duos of
Mahi Panchal and
Anna Matino,
Maria Sarria and Nadia Araguas, and
Sofia Tesic and
Heidi Navas all earned wins.
Quincy carried that momentum into singles play, winning five of the six matches. Nadia Araguas earned a hard-fought tiebreak win at No. 1 singles, while Sarria, Navas, Tesic, and
Kaitlyn Brown all recorded straight-set victories. Araguas has now won three consecutive singles matches. Southwestern Illinois College earned its lone point at No. 2 singles. With the win, Quincy improves to 7-6 on the season.
The Hawks will be back in action on Friday, April 3, when they travel to Springfield to take on the Prairie Stars of Illinois Springfield at 2:00 PM.
