BELLEVILLE, Ill. – The Quincy University men's tennis team picked up its second consecutive victory Sunday afternoon, defeating Southwestern Illinois College 6-1 on the road.
Southwestern Illinois College claimed the doubles point by winning the top two courts, but the Hawks responded in singles play by sweeping all six matches. Quincy's lone doubles victory came at No. 3, where
Gerard Abad Puig and
Alvaro Rueda earned a 6-0 win.
The Hawks were dominant across the singles lineup, beginning with Abad Puig's 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 1.
Gael Castro,
David Eusamio,
Patricio Jimenez,
Jakub Pasielak, and
Carlos Santana all added straight-set wins to complete the sweep. With the victory, Quincy improves to 11-4 on the season and extends its winning streak to two matches.
The Hawks will be back in action on Friday, April 3, when they travel to Springfield to take on the Prairie Stars of Illinois Springfield at 2:00 PM.
