SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Quincy University men's tennis team dropped a tightly contested 4-3 match to Illinois Springfield on Friday afternoon.
Illinois Springfield secured the doubles point by winning the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. Quincy's lone doubles victory came at No. 1, where
Inigo Villacampa and
Enrique Doldan earned a 6-2 win.
In singles play, Quincy picked up victories at the top two spots and at No. 6. Villacampa continued his dominant stretch with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles, extending his singles winning streak to eight matches. Doldan followed with a three-set victory at No. 2 singles to push his singles winning streak to five matches, while
David Eusamio earned a straight-set win at No. 6 for his third consecutive singles victory. Illinois Springfield claimed the remaining singles courts to secure the team result.
The Hawks will be back in action tomorrow at 2:00 PM against Maryville.
