ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Quincy University STUNT team split a pair of matches on Friday, defeating Central Methodist University 21-7 before falling to Drury University 24-8.
Quincy opened the day with another strong performance against Central Methodist, earning its second win over the Eagles this season. The Hawks grabbed the early momentum in the opening quarter, outscoring Central Methodist 3-2. Quincy continued to build its lead in the second quarter, holding the Eagles scoreless while adding three more points to take a 6-2 advantage into halftime.
The Hawks stayed in control coming out of the break, winning the third quarter 4-2 to extend the lead to 10-4. Quincy then put together its best quarter of the day in the final frame, exploding for 11 points to pull away for the 21-7 victory.
In the second match of the day, the Hawks faced Drury for the second time this season. The Panthers took control early, leading 2-0 after the first quarter and extending the advantage to 5-1 by halftime.
Quincy found more success offensively in the second half, scoring three points in the third quarter and four more in the fourth, but Drury continued to answer each run. The Panthers scored six points in the third quarter and closed the match with 13 points in the fourth to secure the 24-8 win.
The Hawks will return to action on Friday, April 3, in the first-ever GLVC STUNT Tournament. Quincy will take on second-seeded Trevecca Nazarene University at 9:00 AM from the O'Reilly Family Event Center on the campus of Drury University.
