QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy men's tennis team battled against the 16th-ranked NAIA team in the country on Saturday afternoon but fell 5-2 to Missouri Baptist.
Quincy earned one victory in doubles play with a win at No. 1 doubles as Inigo Villacampa and Enrique Doldan defeated Luca Ebenriter and Sebastian Junghanns, 6-4. Missouri Baptist responded with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to secure the doubles point.
In singles play, the Hawks picked up two wins. Cristobal Tellez earned a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 3 singles, winning 7-6, 5-7, 10-5, while David Eusamio added a straight-sets win at No. 6 singles, defeating Nicholas Sanchez, 7-5, 7-5.
Missouri Baptist claimed singles wins at Nos. 1, 2, 4, and 5 to clinch the match.
The Hawks will return to action on Friday, February 13, when they host Missouri–St. Louis at home.
