QUINCY, Ill. – Quincy University returned to the win column Friday afternoon with a 4-0 victory over Missouri–St. Louis at the Quincy Racquet Club.
The Hawks secured the doubles point to take early control of the match. The duo of
Inigo Villacampa and
Enrique Doldan earned a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, while
Gael Castro and
David Eusamio clinched the point with a 7-5 victory at No. 3.
Quincy carried the momentum into singles play, capturing three straight courts to seal the team win. Villacampa earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles, Doldan followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2, and
Gerard Abad Puig closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at No. 4. Matches at Nos. 3, 5, and 6 singles were left unfinished as the Hawks clinched the result.
With the win, Quincy improves to 5-2 on the season.
The Hawks return to action Sunday when they host Michigan Tech. First serve is scheduled for 10:00 AM at the Quincy Racquet Club.
