QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's tennis team delivered a commanding performance Sunday morning, defeating Michigan Tech 7-0 at the Quincy Racquet Club.
The Hawks set the tone early by securing the doubles point.
Inigo Villacampa and
Enrique Doldan earned a 7-6 victory at No. 1 doubles, while
Gerard Abad Puig and Christobal Tellez sealed the point with a 6-4 win at No. 2.
Quincy carried the momentum into singles play, winning all six courts. Villacampa battled through a third-set super tiebreak to claim a 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 victory at No. 1 singles. Doldan and Tellez each earned straight-set wins at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, while Abad Puig secured a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 4.
At No. 5,
Gael Castro rebounded after dropping the first set to win in three sets, and
David Eusamio completed the sweep with a straight-set victory at No. 6.
With the win, the Hawks improve to 6-2 on the season. Quincy will return to action on Friday, February 22, when they travel to play Judson University.
