Barry Pulls Away Late as Hawks Fall in Straight Sets on Florida Road Swing

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Quincy University men's volleyball team wrapped up its Florida road swing Friday night, falling in straight sets (25-22, 25-17, 25-21) to Barry University inside Pepsi Arena.

Barry used timely scoring runs in each set to create separation, while Quincy battled throughout and kept every frame competitive deep into the set. Despite several momentum swings, the Parrots capitalized late to secure the sweep.

Set One

The Hawks rallied early after Barry built a 10-6 advantage. Thomas Bradan and Bauer Larson delivered key kills to steady Quincy and keep the deficit manageable.

Midway through the set, Quincy responded with an 8-2 surge, highlighted by Larson's second kill of the night and multiple Parrot miscues, to take a 13-12 lead. The teams traded points down the stretch and were even at 21-21 before Barry closed on a 4-1 run to claim the opener, 25-22.

Set Two

Barry again set the early tempo, using a service ace from Joao Piazza to spark a 10-7 lead. Bradan recorded his second kill of the match, and Isaiah Travis added a finish to keep the Hawks within striking distance.

The Parrots extended their margin to 20-14, capitalizing on Hawk errors to seize momentum. Quincy mounted a late push with a 3-1 run fueled by kills from Barnabas Fenyvesi and Larson to trim the deficit to 24-17, but Barry secured the set on the next point, 25-17.

Set Three

Quincy opened the third set with renewed energy, jumping out to a 5-3 lead behind early kills from Larson and Fenyvesi. The set remained tight through the middle stages with extended rallies and point-for-point play.

Barry broke through with a series of well-timed kills to take a 16-14 lead and later pushed the cushion to 23-19 after capitalizing on Hawk miscues. Fenyvesi delivered a late kill to spark hope, but the Parrots closed with the final two points to secure the set, 25-21, and the match.
