QUINCY, Ill. – Katie Park of Quincy University women's cross country has been named the QU Toyota Star of the Week after capturing an individual title and shattering her own program record at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Saturday.

The senior from Rushville, Illinois and Rushville-Industry High School competed in the 6K race hosted by Augustana College (Ill.), taking first place in a field of 161 runners.

Park crossed the finish line in 22:49.5, finishing seven seconds ahead of the runner-up to claim the individual title.

Along with earning the victory, Park rewrote the Quincy record book in the process. Her time of 22:49.5 shattered the program's previous 6K record of 23:17.2, a mark that Park also held. She took nearly 28 seconds off her previous record with the performance.

Park and the Hawks return to action on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Brian T. Simpson Invitational in Columbia, Missouri. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 9:45 a.m.
