ROCKFORD, Ill. - Quincy University women's cross country was originally scheduled to compete in the Seminole Stampede, but severe rain forced the cancellation of the meet.
The Hawks instead traveled to Rockford, Illinois, to compete in the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational, where Quincy turned in several notable individual performances in the women's 6K race.
Leading the way for the Hawks was
Katie Park, who captured first place with an outstanding time of 22:42.5. Park delivered a standout performance, finishing ahead of the field while making a major mark in the Quincy University record books.
Her time shattered her previous school-record mark of 23:17.2, establishing a new standard for the women's 6K program.
Park's performance was also a remarkable improvement from her previous appearance at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational during her sophomore season. At that meet, she finished 29th with a time of 26:17.0.
This time around, Park crossed the finish line in first place, improving on her previous time and showcasing just how far she has progressed.
Emily Faletti followed Park for Quincy, finishing with a time of 24:21.7. Faletti continued to make her own mark in the program's history, breaking her previous personal record of 24:37.1.
Her new time strengthens her position in the Quincy women's 6K record books, where she now holds the fourth-fastest time in program history.
Caroline Schoenekase also delivered a record-book performance, finishing in 25:11.0. Her time places her eighth in the Quincy women's 6K record books, adding another strong individual accomplishment to the Hawks' day in Rockford.
Mia Robnett crossed the finish line in 32:31.1, followed by Lillian Fields in 32:54.6 to round out Quincy's five runners.
As a team, the Hawks finished 12th overall with 285 points. Despite the last-minute change in competition plans, Quincy came away from the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational with three runners earning places in the program's 6K record books and Park delivering a first-place finish that rewrote the school record.
With individual milestones and continued progress across the lineup, the Hawks will look to carry that momentum into their next competition.
Quincy will continue its season at their next meet on October 10th at the Brian T. Simpson Invitational in Columbia, MO.
