QUINCY, Ill. - After a strong showing at the Larry Young Invitational, the Quincy University men's and women's cross country teams are set to return to competition on Saturday, October 3rd, for the Seminole Stampede in Cedar Rapids, IA.
The Hawks will compete at a new meet for the program, with the men's race scheduled for 9:00 AM and the women's race set for 10:00 AM at Seminole Valley Park.
Last Meet's Recap
Quincy last competed on September 11th at the Larry Young Invitational in Columbia, Missouri, where both teams turned in solid performances and several runners made their mark in the program's record books.
The Quincy women finished sixth as a team with 146 points in the 5K race. Katie Park finished third overall and broke her own Quincy 5K record. She continues an impressive start to her senior season.
Emily Faletti followed with a personal-best time, finishing 9th out of 98 and moved into fifth place in Quincy's women's 5K record book. Freshman Caroline Schoenekase posted a standout performance, crossing the finish line in 20:41.2 and moving into seventh on the program's all-time 5K list.
Ava Certa finished in 26:58.7, while Mia Robnett rounded out the Hawks' scoring five with a time of 28:22.4.
The Quincy men finished eighth with 193 points in the 8K. Freshman Austin Prince paced the Hawks with a time of 28:59.1, followed by Joe Warning at 29:54.4 and Oliver Moore at 29:59.9.
Vinny Olson finished in 30:17.7, while Peyton Anders crossed in 30:37.1 to complete Quincy's scoring group. John Damm followed at 31:09.3, with Owen Buie, Austin Shull and Keegan Sensmeier also competing for the Hawks.
The Larry Young Invitational gave both Quincy squads another opportunity to gain experience early in the season, and the Hawks will now take that momentum into their first appearance at the Seminole Stampede.
A New Challenge
The Seminole Stampede is hosted by Mount Mercy University and takes place at the Seminole Valley Cross Country Course in Cedar Rapids. The course is located within Seminole Valley Park, a 387-acre park featuring open meadows, wooded areas and river access.
The cross country course opened in 2015 and offers 4K, 5K, 6K and 8K courses.
The Stampede has become a regular stop on the collegiate cross country calendar, with the event bringing together programs from across the region. The 2025 edition featured men's and women's races, with the men competing in an 8K and the women running a 6K.
Aquinas won both team races, while Mount Mercy finished fifth on the men's side and sixth in the women's race.
This year's event will again feature an 8K men's race and a women's race, giving Quincy another opportunity to compete against a different collection of teams and runners. The Hawks have never competed at the Seminole Valley Stampede before, making Saturday's meet a new challenge and a chance to gain experience on a course they have not previously raced.
With the regular season continuing toward the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship in November, Quincy will look to use the Seminole Stampede as another step in its development.
The Hawks will hit the course Saturday morning, with the men's race beginning at 9:00 AM followed by the women's race at 10:00 AM.
