Hawks Compete at Brissman-Lundeen Invitational

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Quincy University men's cross country was originally scheduled to compete in the Seminole Stampede, but adjusted their schedule and traveled to Rockford, Illinois, for the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational.

The team competed in the men's 8K race and came away with a record-book performance from one of its newest runners.

Freshman Austin Prince led the way for Quincy, finishing first among the Hawks with an impressive time of 28:11.9.

Competing at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational for the first time, Prince made an immediate impact, establishing himself as Quincy's top finisher in the race. His performance was especially notable as he secured the sixth-fastest time in the Quincy men's 8K record books, giving the freshman an exciting milestone early in his collegiate career.

Prince's strong showing demonstrated his ability to compete at a high level while providing the Hawks with a promising performance to build on throughout the season.

Vinny Olson was the next Hawk across the finish line, recording a time of 29:26.8.

Olson also made significant progress compared to his previous appearance at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational, where he finished with a time of 31:00.0.

His new mark represented an improvement of more than a minute and a half, highlighting the progress he has made since his last trip to the meet.

Joe Warning and Oliver Moore followed, both crossing the finish line with matching times of 29:47.1. Their performances gave Quincy two more runners finishing under the 30-minute mark.

Peyton Anders rounded out the Hawks' top five with a time of 30:09.1, completing the scoring lineup for Quincy.

As a team, Quincy finished 14th overall with 408 points. The Hawks navigated a change in competition plans and came away with an important individual milestone from Prince, whose first-place finish among Quincy runners and sixth-place standing in the school's 8K record books highlighted the day.

With a freshman leading the way and Olson continuing to improve his time, Quincy will look to carry that progress forward into its upcoming meets.

The Hawks will travel to Columbia, MO for their next meet at the Brain T. Simpson Invitational on October 10th at 9:00 AM.
