INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced its women's tennis preseason coaches poll on Friday, with Quincy projected to finish fourth in the West Division after totaling 14 points.
Rockhurst was selected as the preseason favorite, earning 25 points and all five eligible first-place votes. Drury followed closely in second with 21 points and the remaining first-place vote, while Southwest Baptist claimed third with 16 points. Truman State (9 points) and William Jewell (5 points) rounded out the West Division in fifth and sixth, respectively.
Quincy enters the spring season with momentum following a strong fall campaign. Under first-year interim head coach
Zach Willing, the Hawks are off to a perfect 4-0 start and competed in both the ITA Midwest Regionals and the EU Invitational. Last season, Quincy finished 8-12 overall and posted a 2-3 mark in GLVC play.
The Hawks are led by senior
Mahi Panchal, who is in her fourth season with the program and has earned First Team All-GLVC honors in each of the past two seasons. Panchal has continued her success early this year, posting a 5-2 record in both singles and doubles competition. Seniors
Anna Matino and
Brittney Kelly have also played key roles in guiding a large and promising freshman class through the early portion of the season.
Quincy will return to action on Saturday, February 8, when the Hawks host William Woods at the Quincy Racquet Club. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
