Moreno Henao’s Brace, Bringedal’s First Goal Lift Quincy to 2–0 Start

HAMMOND, Ind. — Quincy men's soccer kept its early momentum rolling on Sunday afternoon, defeating Purdue Northwest 3–1 at Pepsi Field to open the season 2–0 for the first time since 2016.

The Hawks got on the board in the 13th minute when Carlos Moreno Henao finished a pass from Leo Cann to make it 1–0. Just 17 minutes later, Moreno Henao struck again with his second of the day, giving Quincy a two-goal cushion heading into halftime.

The Pride pulled one back in the 52nd minute, but Quincy had the answer soon after. In the 60th, Mathias Bringedal netted his first collegiate goal off an assist from Moreno Henao, restoring the Hawks' two-goal advantage and sealing the victory.

Moreno Henao turned in another standout performance, notching his second straight two-goal match while also recording an assist, good for a career-high five points in a single game. Bringedal's milestone tally highlighted a balanced Quincy attack that continues to produce early in the year.

Defensively, Jake Offerman made two saves in net to earn his second career victory, while captains Jake Ellis and Paal Vistnes anchored the back line by playing the full 90 minutes, keeping the Pride's attack in check despite seven PNW corner kicks.

The Hawks will look to start 3–0 for the first time since 2014 when they travel to St. Cloud, Minnesota, on Wednesday, September 12, to face St. Cloud State University. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM at Husky Stadium, marking the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
