MIDWAY, Ky. – The Quincy University sprint football team came up short on the road Saturday afternoon, falling 41–12 to Midway University at Midway Turf Field. The Hawks moved to 0-4 on the season and will now shift their focus to Homecoming weekend.
Midway jumped out to an early lead behind a pair of first-quarter touchdowns before Quincy answered in the second. Quarterback
Kiet Truong connected with
Josiah Oliver-Ross on a 34-yard strike for the Hawks' first score, and later in the quarter,
CJ Jackson punched in a one-yard rushing touchdown to cap a long drive. Despite the offensive sparks, the Eagles kept momentum on their side and carried a 34–12 lead into halftime. One more Midway touchdown in the fourth quarter put the game out of reach at 41–12.
Truong finished with 354 passing yards and a touchdown through the air. Oliver-Ross had a breakout performance with six catches for 157 yards and a score, while
Gregory Quince added 86 yards receiving. Jackson contributed both on the ground and in the passing game, tallying 42 rushing yards with a touchdown.
Defensively,
Kaden Buchholz led the Hawks with eight tackles and four tackles for loss, while
Donnell Packer and
Nicholas Hoffman added six stops apiece.
Drew Paben provided the highlight on defense with an interception that set up Quincy's first touchdown.
Quincy will look to regroup next weekend as the Hawks return home for Homecoming. They will host Bellarmine University on Sunday, October 5, with kickoff scheduled for noon at QU Stadium.
