Quincy Earns Program’s 700th Victory with 3-0 Win Over Upper Iowa

QUINCY, Ill. – Quincy University men's soccer reached a historic milestone Friday night at Jack Mackenzie Field, earning the program's 700th all-time victory with a 3-0 win over Upper Iowa. The result marked the Hawks' third straight win, pushing them to 5-1-1 overall and 3-1 in GLVC play.

After a scoreless opening half, Quincy erupted with three second-half goals to put the match away. Leo Cann broke through in the 61st minute, finishing off a setup from Carlos Moreno Henao to make it 1-0. Less than 15 minutes later, Josh Nwosu added to the lead with his third goal in two matches, giving the Hawks breathing room. The scoring was capped in the 85th minute when Moreno Henao struck for a goal of his own, assisted by Mathias Bringedal, to secure the 3-0 final.

Goalkeeper Jake Offerman was rock solid once again, recording his third shutout of the season behind six saves. Quincy finished with a 17-18 shot margin against the Peacocks, but the Hawks made the most of their chances with four shots on target converted into three goals. Offerman's commanding play in goal, combined with timely finishes, made the difference in a physical match that featured 27 combined fouls.

With the victory, Quincy not only extended its winning streak to three matches but also secured a landmark moment for the program with its 700th win. The Hawks will return to Jack Mackenzie Field on Friday, October 3rd, to continue GLVC play at home against Truman State, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 PM following the women's match.
