QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's soccer team saw its three-game winning streak come to an end on Friday evening, falling 1-0 to Truman State at Jack Mackenzie Field.
In a physical and chippy contest that featured plenty of action and stoppages, the Hawks battled to create chances but could not find the finishing touch. Quincy fired 15 shots, including 12 in the second half, yet came up empty as the Bulldogs struck in the 53rd minute with the decisive goal.
Quincy once again leaned on its steady core, as
Jake Ellis and
Paal Vistnes anchored the back line with 90-minute performances, while
Ismael Allimadi matched their effort in the midfield to keep the Hawks organized on both ends of the field. Their consistency helped limit Truman State to just four shots on the night.
The defeat marked just the second time this season that Quincy has been shut out, despite controlling long stretches of possession and applying pressure late in the match.
Quincy (5-2-1, 3-2-0 GLVC) will look to bounce back quickly, returning to Jack Mackenzie Field on Sunday, October 5th at 2:30 PM against William Jewell College, following the women's game.
