Moreno Nets GLVC-Best Seventh Goal as Quincy Downs William Jewell

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's soccer team got back in the win column on Sunday afternoon, posting a 2-0 shutout over William Jewell at Jack Mackenzie Field. The victory marked the Hawks' fourth clean sheet of the season and pushed them to 6-2-1 overall.

The Hawks wasted little time finding the net as Carlos Moreno Henao continued his hot streak, scoring in the 7th minute off an assist from Josh Nwosu. The goal was Moreno's GLVC-leading seventh of the season, cementing his status as one of the top finishers in the conference. Quincy doubled its advantage in the 71st minute when Mathias Bringedal buried a chance set up by Alvaro Heredia Garcia, giving the Hawks breathing room heading into the final stretch.

On the defensive end, Quincy stood tall throughout the 90 minutes. Paal Vistnes once again anchored the back line, logging his eighth full 90-minute performance of the year to help limit William Jewell to just six shots on goal. Behind him, goalkeeper Jake Offerman came up big when called upon, making seven saves to record the shutout.

With a balanced attack and a composed defensive effort, the Hawks controlled the match and secured another crucial GLVC victory.

The Hawks will now turn their attention to a crucial road test as they travel to Kansas City to face Rockhurst, who sits atop the GLVC standings with an overall record of 6-2-2 and a league mark of 5-0-2. Quincy will aim to hand the Hawks from Kansas City their first conference loss of the season when the two sides meet at 7:30 PM on Friday, October 10, at Bourke Field.
