INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Quincy University women's soccer team earned a historic road victory on Sunday evening, shutting out the University of Indianapolis 2–0 at Key Stadium. The win not only moved the Hawks to 3–1–2 overall and 1–0–1 in GLVC play, but also marked their first road win over UIndy since 2009.
Quincy wasted little time getting on the board. Just four minutes in,
Rebecca Rheinheimer slotted home the opening goal after a clever setup from
Ella Wolfard. Twenty minutes later, the Hawks capitalized again, as
Olivia Nelson buried a shot off a double assist from Claudia Andreau and
Alayna Vela to make it 2–0 at the 24:44 mark. Quincy's defense held firm the rest of the half, limiting UIndy's opportunities and keeping the Hawks firmly in control at the break.
The Hawks focused on maintaining their cushion, applying selective pressure while prioritizing defensive shape. Goalkeeper
Devin Tracy recorded her third shutout of the season, needing just one save thanks to the strong play in front of her. Defenders
Marina Oberschmid and
Reese Wingbermuehle anchored the back line, each playing over 70 minutes as Quincy limited UIndy to just four total shots and only one on goal.
Quincy now turns its attention to the home pitch, as the Hawks return to Legends Stadium on Friday, September 26, to host Upper Iowa University. Kickoff is set for 5:00 PM.
