INDIANOLA, Iowa — Quincy women's tennis made a strong start to its 2025 season on Wednesday, September 17, earning a 4–0 victory over Simpson College before storms in the area brought play to a halt. The win marks the Hawks' first of the year as they begin their fall slate.
Quincy took control early in doubles, sweeping all three courts.
Mahi Panchal and
Maria Sarria set the tone with a 6–1 win at No. 1, while Nadia Heredia and
Heidi Navas rolled to a 6–0 result at No. 2.
Sofia Tesic and
Brittney Kelly secured the sweep with a 6–4 decision at No. 3.
In singles play, Panchal dominated at the top spot with a 6–0 win, and Sarria followed with a 6–3, 6–1 victory at No. 2. Heredia delivered the clinching point at No. 3, winning 6–0, 6–1 to push Quincy ahead 4–0. The remaining three matches went unfinished due to weather conditions, but the Hawks had already secured the dual win.
Quincy (1–0) will continue its road swing on Saturday, September 20, as the men's and women's teams travel to Joliet, Illinois, to take on the University of St. Francis (Ill.).
