SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Quincy University men's tennis team continued Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Friday afternoon, falling 6-1 to a tough Drury University squad at Cooper Tennis Complex.
The Hawks started the match strong at No. 3 doubles, where Pablo Mateos Niella and Gerard Abad Puig picked up a 6-4 victory. However, the Panthers responded with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to claim the doubles point. Joseph Restrepo and Inigo Villacampa dropped a 6-3 match at the top spot, while Rodrigo Coello Treviño and Gianni Lopez battled to a tight 7-6 (8-6) tiebreak loss at No. 2.
In singles play, Quincy's lone point came from Restrepo at No. 2 singles. After dropping the first set 6-1, Restrepo stormed back for a 6-2, 6-3 comeback victory to get the Hawks on the board.
Despite competitive efforts, the Panthers claimed the remaining singles matches in straight sets. Villacampa fell 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1, while Lopez, Abad Puig, Coello Treviño, and Marko Cucuk were each defeated on courts three through six.

Quincy will close out its regular season schedule on Sunday, April 21, when the Hawks travel to Bolivar, Missouri, to face Southwest Baptist University in their final GLVC match. First serve is set for 11:00 AM.
