Box Score LIBERTY, MO – The Quincy University women's lacrosse team traveled to William Jewell College to face off against the Cardinals on Friday (Apr. 11). The Hawks went a man down early on due to injury, and ultimately fell 20-10 in the road contest
. The Cardinals wasted no time capitalizing on Quincy's strained lineup, putting up six goals in the first quarter. The Hawks responded with three of their own, Anni Moran and Amelia Ham connected early with their signature low feed into the middle, resulting in a goal and assist, respectively. Perrilynn Cory followed with a score off another assist from Ham, and Mary Grace Cummings capped the quarter with a goal of her own. However, a tough break came when a Hawk sustained a lower leg injury, forcing Quincy to play man down for the rest of the game.
The second quarter was more evenly matched, with both teams netting three goals each. Aurora Jason broke Quincy's scoring drought with a free-position shot, and Moran added two more goals, one assisted by Ham, bringing the halftime score to 9–6 in favor of William Jewell.
The Cardinals pulled ahead in the third quarter, outscoring Quincy 4–1, despite three saves by goalie Madison Whiting Wagner, who tallied 10 total saves by the end of the period. Moran scored Quincy's only goal of the quarter with a free-position shot. In the final quarter, the already-depleted Hawks began to tire and were once again outscored, 7–3. Ham ended her scoring drought, Jenna Lang notched her second goal of the season with a free-position shot, and Moran closed the game with another goal, assisted by Cummings.
Moran finished with six goals, Ham recorded four points, Cummings had four ground balls and two caused turnovers, and Whiting Wagner ended with 13 saves.
The Hawks will return home to host Rockhurst University for Senior Day this Sunday (Apr. 13) at QU Stadium, with the game set to begin at 12:00 PM CDT.
