ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Quincy University women's tennis team battled against a strong University of Missouri-St. Louis squad but fell 7-0 on the road Tuesday (Apr. 1) at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
The Hawks were unable to secure a doubles victory, as UMSL swept all three matches. The No. 1 pairing of Mahi Panchal and Katrin Ismailova fought hard but dropped a 6-2 decision, while the No. 2 and No. 3 duos fell 6-0.
In singles play, Ana Alvarez put up the biggest fight at No. 3, winning the first set 6-2 before dropping the next two in a narrow 7-6 (7-2), 7-5 battle. Panchal (2-6, 1-6) and Ismailova (3-6, 2-6) competed at the top two singles spots but were unable to overcome their opponents. The Tritons also claimed victories in the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 spots to complete the sweep.
