QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Tuesday afternoon, shutting out Illinois College 7-0 at Reservoir Park. The win improves the Hawks to 9-5 on the season as they continue their strong spring campaign.
Quincy wasted no time in doubles play, sweeping all three matches in commanding fashion. The No. 3 duo of Gerard Abad Puig and Marko Cucuk set the tone with a 6-0 win, while the No. 1 pairing of Inigo Villacampa and Joseph Restrepo matched that result. Gianni Lopez and Rodrigo Coello Trevino completed the doubles sweep with a 6-1 victory at No. 2.
The Hawks carried their momentum into singles action, winning all six matches in straight sets. Villacampa cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1, while Restrepo followed with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2. Lopez and Abad Puig each secured 6-1, 6-1 wins at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Pablo Mateos Niella posted a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5, and Cucuk capped off the sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
