Indianapolis, Ind. - The nation's top swimmers in Division II gathered in Indianapolis, Indiana, this week for the NCAA Division II Swim and Dive Championship this week (Mar.11-15). Quincy swimmers Wyatt Walsh and Borna Kisasondi both qualified for the meet based on their fast times throughout the season. 

The Hawks started up on Wednesday morning with the preliminary round on day two. Walsh competed in the 200IM, an event he was invited to and seeded at 25th in the nation during selection. Walsh finished the event in 1:47.68, tabbing a new personal best and a new best time in Hawks program history. Though a personal feat for the junior, Walsh was just .2 seconds away from the consolation final for the event. Kisasondi spent his Wednesday morning competing in the 50 freestyle, finishing with his third-best time of 20.30 seconds. 

On Thursday, the Hawks competed in the events they had qualified for nationals for. Kisasondi opened the day with the 100 butterfly, completing the swim at 47.44 seconds, good for a spot in the consolation final, the first any Hawk has competed in on the national stage. Walsh followed it up with a seventh-seed finish in the 400IM, swimming a 3:52.39 in the event, and getting a chance to compete in Quincy's first finals heat at nationals. 

Thursday evening, Kisasondi competed in a tough heat of competitors, finishing 16th overall with a 47.39-second swim. Walsh then competed in the 400IM final, finishing his swim in 3:51.48 minutes, securing sixth place overall and becoming the Hawks' first placer at nationals. Walsh's swim was also good for another broken record. 

With tonight's swims, the Hawks sit in 22nd place out of 30 teams at nationals with 14 points. 

Quincy continues to compete tomorrow (Mar. 14) with Walsh's swim in the 500 freestyle and Borna's swim in the 100 backstroke.
