CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – The Quincy University women's tennis team faced a tough challenge on Friday afternoon (Feb. 14), falling 7-0 to an undefeated Missouri Baptist squad at Forest Lake Tennis Club.
The Hawks showed flashes of strong play but were unable to overcome the Spartans, who remained unbeaten with a dominant performance. QU secured a highlight in doubles action, as the No. 1 pairing of Mahi Panchal and Katrin Ismailova earned a 6-4 victory. However, MoBap claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
In singles play, Panchal was bested at the No. 1 spot, falling 6-2, 6-2. Ismailova put up a strong fight at No. 2, forcing a second-set tiebreak before falling 6-2, 7-6. Ana Alvarez, Anna Matino, Nora Hennessy, and Brittney Kelly all battled in their respective matches but were unable to break through against a deep Spartans lineup.

The Hawks will look to bounce back in their next match on Thursday, February 27, when they travel to Joliet, Ill., to face the University of St. Francis. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
