QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University men's wrestling team wrapped up its home slate on Saturday (Feb. 1), celebrating its seniors before taking on No. 18 University of Indianapolis at the QU Health and Fitness Center Three Court Area. The Hawks battled throughout the dual but ultimately fell to the nationally ranked Greyhounds, 41-3.
Callan Ivy delivered an impressive performance at 184 pounds, earning a hard-fought 4-0 decision over Aidan Petersen to put Quincy on the board. The win was the second of the weekend for Ivy who was the only Hawk to emerge victorious in both of his matches against formidable GLVC foes in UIndy and Drury.Â
Several other Hawks held their own against tough competition, pushing their matches the full duration. Brian Farley (125) put up a strong fight before dropping an 8-4 decision to Jadon Gyan, while Isaac Bourge (133) battled to a close 4-2 loss against Aiden Dallinger. Hunter Vernon (157) stayed within striking distance in his match, falling 5-3 to Nathan Conley, and Jackson Jones (165) kept things tight in a 4-1 decision defeat to Kaden Lone.
Sabian Russell, Logan Colbert and Isaiah Hill got dealt tough matchups against nationally-ranked opponents in their matches. Colbert (197) drew the top man in the weight class, squaring off with #1 Derek Blubaugh, dropping the match by fall. Hill faced 12th-ranked Cale Gray, dropping the bout by tech fall 18-3. Russell drew #18 Brayden Lowery, who dealt Russell a loss by fall.Â
A forfeit in 149 and a loss by fall for Aaron Taylor to Trey Sizemore at 174 rounded out the Hawks showing in their final home dual of the 24-25 season.Â
