QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's tennis team wrapped up its fall slate in perfect fashion on Sunday afternoon, blanking Millikin University 7–0 at the Quincy Racquet Club. The victory marked the Hawks' fourth straight win and fourth consecutive sweep, giving them a spotless 4–0 fall record.
In doubles,
Maria Sarria and
Mahi Panchal rolled to a dominant 6–0 win at the top spot, showcasing Panchal's class, as she looked like she was competing in a different league with the way she controlled rallies.
Anna Matino and
Sofia Tesic collected a win by default at No. 3, while Millikin claimed the No. 2 doubles court over
Brittney Kelly and
Kaitlyn Brown.
The Hawks controlled singles from start to finish. Panchal was ruthless at No. 1 with a 6–0, 6–0 sweep, continuing her dominance.
Heidi Navas secured a convincing 6–0, 6–1 win at No. 2, while Tesic found herself down early at No. 3 but flipped the match after a tight 50/50 call, finding fire and dominating down the stretch to win 6–2, 7–6.
Brittney Kelly powered through at No. 4 with a 6–2, 6–1 win, while Matino and Sarria each added default wins at No. 5 and 6 to close the sweep.
The win capped a flawless fall for Quincy, who did not drop a single team match across four outings, sweeping every opponent.
The Hawks will begin the spring season on Saturday, February 7th, when they host William Woods University to open dual match play.
