QUINCY, Ill. - Quincy men's soccer dropped a hard-fought 1-0 contest to Missouri S&T on Sunday afternoon at Jack Mackenzie Field. The lone tally came in the 73rd minute when a handball in the box set up a penalty kick for the Miners, and they converted to provide the decisive goal.
The match was physical and chippy from the outset, with six yellow cards issued, three to each side. The Hawks battled to the end but were unable to find the back of the net, marking the first time since 2017 that Missouri S&T has shut out Quincy.
Hawks goalkeeper Jake Offerman was once again a standout for the Hawks, tying his career high with eight saves in the match. With that effort, Offerman surpassed the 50-save mark on the season, continuing his strong campaign between the posts.
Statistically, Quincy was limited to three total shots, just one on goal, while the Miners generated 18 shots, including nine on frame. Missouri S&T also held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks and forced the Hawks into 15 fouls compared to their own 11, underlining the physical nature of the contest.
Quincy (7-4-2, 5-4-1 GLVC) will look to bounce back on Friday, October 24, with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff in Jefferson City, Missouri, against the Lincoln University Blue Tigers.
