QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy sprint football team dropped to 0–5 on the season with a 59–22 loss to Midway University at QU Stadium on Saturday evening. Despite another strong effort, the Hawks were unable to keep pace in a game that saw the Eagles score consistently across all four quarters.

The Hawks opened the game with energy, striking first on a 23-yard touchdown run from Harold Williams just 1:41 into the contest. The momentum grew moments later when Donnell Packer returned a blocked extra point 97 yards to the end zone, giving the Hawks an 8–6 lead. Quincy continued to execute in the first quarter as quarterback Deuce Allaway connected with Gregory Quince on a 26-yard touchdown pass, putting the Hawks ahead 15–6 with just over two minutes remaining in the frame.

The Eagles responded quickly, adding a late touchdown before the end of the quarter to seize a 17–15 advantage. From there, the game turned as Quincy was held scoreless in the second quarter while the opposition posted 18 unanswered points, including a long rushing score and a passing strike that pushed the halftime margin to 32–15.

The third quarter continued the swing against the Hawks, as three more touchdowns extended the deficit to 53–15 heading into the fourth. Quincy showed resilience late, however, when quarterback Ethen Harrison capped a fourth-quarter drive with a one-yard touchdown toss to Travon Hegler-Wright. That score, paired with defensive stands that forced multiple turnovers, gave the Hawks a spark in the final period, but the gap proved too wide to overcome as the contest closed at 59–22.

Quincy finished with 281 total yards on 64 plays, averaging 4.4 yards per snap. The Hawks ran the ball effectively at times, totaling 162 rushing yards on 30 carries, but their passing game was inconsistent, with just 119 yards and four turnovers through the air. The offense converted 15 first downs and controlled possession for just over 28 minutes, though third-down struggles (4-of-15) limited scoring opportunities.

The Hawks' defense was on the field for nearly 100 plays and gave up 555 total yards, including over 360 yards passing. They did create some momentum with an interception, two sacks, and a blocked kick return for points, but the Eagles capitalized on short fields and went 6-for-8 in the red zone.

Individually, Harold Williams had a rushing touchdown, Deuce Allaway added 110 passing yards with a touchdown through the air, and Ethen Harrison contributed a late passing score. Gregory Quince and Travon Hegler-Wright each caught touchdown passes, while Evan Lopez led the team with 43 receiving yards. On defense, Donnell Packer stood out with 12 tackles, an interception return, and a defensive PAT, while Thomas Murray Jr. added 10 tackles, and Kaden Buchholz and Kamryn Flachs-Hill each contributed in the backfield with sacks.

The Hawks will return to QU Stadium on Friday, October 24, at 6:00 PM for their matchup against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. The contest will also serve as Senior Day, as Quincy honors its senior class in their final regular-season home appearance.
