ST. LOUIS, MO. - The Hawks pressed their win streak to seven victories with a 34-14 defeat of the Spartans of Missouri Baptist University on Wednesday evening (Jan. 22).
Seven of 10 Hawks in competition came away with wins as QU swept the first three weight classes getting a
Mackenzie Graves win by fall over Lillian Hackworth in 103, followed by a 10-0 tech fall victory for
Trinity Pendergrass over Andrea Karagiannis in 110 to put Quincy ahead 9-0 in team score.
Alexandra Tchekounova had an easy night, getting the forfeit victory in 117 action before MBU found its first success of the evening with a fall win in 124 to narrow the deficit to 14-5.
Kaleigh Allender received the second of three Quincy forfeit victories in her 131 match, tailed by another QU win by
Abby Rhodes in 138, besting Cara Cheng in 54 seconds to pick up five points and put her side ahead 24-5 before the final Spartans forfeit of the evening found
Trinity Donovan the victor in her 145 match.
With the Hawks win sealed up 29-5 heading into the final three matches of the evening, Missouri Baptist finally got something going, picking up a tech fall in 160 as well as a fall winner in 207, sandwhiching a
Sophia Sosa fall win in 180 over Emma Schreiber to deliver a final score of 34-14 in favor of Quincy.
With the win, the Hawks lock up their first 10-win season in duals action in just the third year in the programs history.
